After failing to get out of their Copa America group, following defeats to Uruguay and Panama, the US were dumped out of the tournament they were hosting. Manager Berhalter was then relieved of his duties earlier this week, which led to some players, including Musah, to send a message to the American.

In an Instagram story, the midfielder – who was handed his international debut by Berhalter in 2020 – posted a photo of the two of them together and wrote: "It's been a great journey. Thank you."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has been linked with the role as the US look to fare better in the 2026 World Cup, which they are hosting alongside Canada and Mexico, although he has since distanced himself from the position. Berhalter was in the second of two stints in the USMNT role and said he was the right man to lead his country to the World Cup – the US Soccer Federation disagreed, however, and made the decision to get rid after the poor Copa America showing.
