Hollywood stars calling the shots in North WalesInvesting time, energy and moneyOther teams cannot compete with ambitious projectWHAT HAPPENED?
The Hollywood superstars completed a stunning takeover at SToK Racecourse in February 2021, and have been riding an emotional and financial roller coaster ever since. There have been setbacks along the way – including Wembley heartache and play-off pain – but the Red Dragons roared back into the Football League last season with a record-breaking title triumph.

Few clubs in the lower leagues of English football are able to compete with the money Wrexham are generating and investing, with former Red Dragons striker Ormerod telling of how that is leaving opponents feeling: "I wouldn't say any other club is bitter about Wrexham's situation, but they'll definitely be jealous and you can't blame them. Ryan and Rob are obviously in this for the long haul. They obviously didn't want to just make a 'Class of 92', they wanted something that had an existing fanbase and a good history.
"I just hope that they are in this for the long run. That's the danger [that they aren't]. When you look at bigger teams like Reading, owners come in with the best intentions, it's not always going to make money and I think some business people don't realise that. They end up losing a lot of money and walk away from the club whilst leaving said club in financial tatters. The people who suffer are the club itself and the fans."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
For now, Wrexham are riding high and are expected to see more funds made available in the January transfer window. Ormerod added on the ability to attract marquee additions to North Wales: “Wrexham will be able to attract very good players now – if Saudi Arabia don't get there first! Most importantly, these players have to be able to perform on the pitch. It's alright signing a big name, but if they're not going to play much or they're constantly injured then it's not very good.
"The budget will increase if Wrexham get promoted to League One and the media hype will continue to increase. The owners seem very ambitious, they seem to have very deep pockets and they've installed a bit of Hollywood glitter onto Wrexham. There is staff still working at Wrexham from when I was there so it's nice to see, after everything they've been through, that it's completely flipped."

Ormerod spent two years with Wrexham between 2012 and 2014. The club has come a long way since then and, with Phil Parkinson calling the shots as star striker Paul Mullin bags the goals, the intention is to be celebrating another promotion come the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
