Chelsea edged past Everton in a 2-1 victory, to claim their spot in the last eight of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening.
While the game was fairly non-descript in terms of quality, one young man stood out and impressed on his first full debut for the Premier League Champions.
That man is Ethan Ampadu, a 17-year-old midfielder who the Blues signed from Exeter City in the summer.
Born in 2000, Ampadu came through the youth ranks at Exeter and made his debut for the Grecians aged just 15. Following some promising performances in League Two last season, Chelsea were quick to act and snapped him up durin the last transfer window.
This evening, the teenager had a phenomenal, if understated performance for Chelsea. His composure and leadership on a field full of world class talents has earned him plenty of praise, none more so than from Chelsea fans, who can’t quite believe just how impress Ampadu was in the centre of the park…
