Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a fresh injury blow with Cristian Romero ruled out for six weeks.

Romero returned to the Spurs line-up against Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday after missing five matches across all competitions with a toe problem. The Argentina defender, however, had to leave the pitch within the first 15 minutes of the game as he picked up yet another knock. Radu Dragusin was brought into the game replacing the World Cup-winning centre-back.

It was initially suspected that the Tottenham star might have aggravated his toe injury. However, journalist has now confirmed that the defender suffered a muscular injury and it will keep him out of action for the next six weeks. This means that the loss against Chelsea was Romero's final match of 2024.

The defender's injury comes as a huge blow for the Lilywhites, who remain winless in their last three Premier League matches and are currently struggling in 11th in the league, with 20 points from 15 outings.
