According to reports in the Daily Mail, West Ham United youngster Reece Oxford doesn’t want to return to the club after his loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach finished at the end of the season.
What’s the word, then?
Well, the Daily Mail says that while the Bundesliga giants are to send the 6ft 3in teenager back to east London this summer, he believes he has no future with the Premier League strugglers – he is one of three West Ham players that will be praying manager David Moyes leaves at the end of the season.
The Daily Mail says that while the 19-year-old has been impressed with the first-team opportunities Declan Rice has had in both defence and midfield this term, he sees the Republic of Ireland international as another hurdle in his potential bid to become a regular starter for the Irons.
The report adds that the German club have previously expressed their interest in signing Oxford permanently, and now the player wants West Ham to accept a fair offer so he can stay in Germany.
How has Oxford done this season?
It’s certainly been a strange campaign for the teenager.
He left to join Monchengladbach on loan until January last summer, but having only made four appearances for them he returned to the London Stadium at the beginning of 2018.
The 19-year-old made three appearances for the Irons in January before he re-joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan until the end of the season and deadline day.
He has made three starts since then, with an injury problem restricting him in the last six weeks or so.

Will West Ham sell him this summer?
It’s difficult to say.
While Oxford’s attitude has sometimes been questioned, it would be a real shame for the Irons to lose a young player who looks to have plenty of potential and who made a brave decision as a teenager to go and try and play in Germany.
David Moyes could perform a huge overhaul of his defence this summer with James Collins and Winston Reid potential casualties, and that could give the 19-year-old a real chance to stake a claim for a regular spot in the XI.
That said, if the player is adamant that he doesn’t return and the east London outfit receive an acceptable bid for his services, then it would probably be best for both parties if they did a deal, with the Hammers not wanting to keep a player that doesn’t want to be there.
